The Sign
Believe His Works!
Believe Jesus for His miracles:
John 10:31-33, Then the Jews took up stones again to stone Him. Jesus answered them, “Many
good works I have shown you from My Father. For which of those works do you stone Me?” The Jews answered Him, saying, “For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and
because You, being a Man, make Yourself God.”…“If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me; but if I do, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, that you may know and
believe that the Father is in Me, and I in Him.”
Acts 2:22, Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know...
Matthew 11:3-5, “Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?” Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see: The blind see and the lame walk; the
lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them.”
Believe Jesus for His work in Creation:
Psalm 19:1-3, The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork.
Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor
language where their voice is not heard.
1. The Heavens declare - GOD!! So vast - so incredibly vast. The more we discover the bigger it is! The revolution and rotation of the earth give us a calendar and a clock. So precise the movements we can declare the exact place and time of the next eclipse, even years before. We navigate the oceans using the stars. The Moon dictates tides, animal activities and planting.
2. AND the firmament screams - GOD!
Clouds and winds. Rain, snow and hurricanes. The beauty of a sunrise or a sunset which are new every day. And the birds migrating, hunting and soaring. Thousands of birds in a swarm and NONE collide!
Gen. 9:13, I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth.
Believe Jesus for the sign of the Empty tomb - the resurrection!
Jesus taught: “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” She said to Him, “Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.” John 11:25-27. Why believe such a bold claim?
John 11:39, Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Him, “Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days.”… 45 Then many of the Jews who had come to Mary, and had seen the things Jesus did, believed in Him… 12:9, they came, not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might also see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead.
The resurrection verified to Martha - and to us - that Jesus was/is indeed the Christ, the Son of God!
Jesus declared: “No sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.” Matthew 16:4.
Declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead, Romans 1:4.
If there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen, I Corinthians 15:13.
The resurrection is the sign verifying that Jesus was the Christ – the fulfillment of the Old Testament and He who would take satisfy God’s wrath toward sin (Isaiah 53:11).
The resurrection was/is the sign proving that the “It is FINISHED” uttered by Jesus at the close of His time of the cross was indeed true.
The resurrection is the sign proving that Jesus is “the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6).
The resurrection is an undeniable sign screaming that we should cast our faith in Jesus as our Savior!
